The following is a brief list of software development projects that I have been involved in.
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 implementation - Redland Shire Council
- Currently working on a MOSS implemenatation of an intranet for RSC.
- We are customising many aspects of MOSS such as Field Controls, Master Pages, Page Layouts, User Profiles, Search and the Business Data Catalog (BDC).
Shift Management System - BHP Billiton - Mitsubishi Alliance - Goonyella Riverside Mine
- Currently developing a system than will allow shift supervisors to view real-time maintenance data from various operational systems, including SAP and Modular Mining.
- C# 2.0 winforms application using CSLA 2.0 object framework.
Partner Readiness Sessions - Microsoft Australia
- Conducted BizTalk 2006, SharePoint and Office 2007 Partner Readiness sessions in various capital cities in Australia.
BizTalk 2006 Project - Queensland Department of Justice
- Provided general BizTalk training and consulting to DOJ.
BizTalk 2004 Project - Education Queensland
- Designed and developed (as part of a team) a BTS application to collate data from school management systems at individual schools throughout Queensland.
- Recommended and implemented standard practices for BizTalk development projects covering aspects such as automated deployment (Development-Test-Production), coding standards, documentation and design patterns.
.NET Development.
- Provide .NET development and SQL Server consulting to Redland Shire Council on a variety of projects (on going since 2002)
- RSC has projects involving:

.NET Build Cycle Automation
- Automated .NET build processes using NAnt at Redland Shire Council http://www.redland.qld.gov.au/
- System performs nightly builds on development projects. Also performs unit testing using NUnit.
Enterprise Application Integration
- Worked with the software development team at Redland Shire Council to design, build and maintain a solution to integrate and synchronise data amongst their various operational systems.
Investment Management System
- Designed and developed a complete Investment and Mortgage Management System used by Cromwell Propery Securities Ltd. http://www.cromwell.com.au
- Keeps track of and produces vital reports on investors, contacts, financial advisors, commissions, distributions, and general ledger.
- This is a robust, mission critical system which is vital to the day to day business processes at Cromwell.
Corporate Data Warehouse
- Provided consulting on the architectural and practical aspects of developing a corporate data warehouse using Microsoft technologies at Education Queensland. http://education.qld.gov.au/ The system consisted of an Oracle data mart, MS Analysis Services cubes, along with a web front end (VB.NET and ASP.NET) that hosted MS Office Web Components. Scheduled builds utilise DTS packages.
Mobile Job System
- Designed and wrote a Pocket PC application for Dalvec http://www.dalvec.com.au/ to allow field technicians to receive and update jobs using handheld devices. These devices connected to the Internet using GPRS. The system was developed using C# and the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework as well as XML Web Services.
Workflow Automation
- Working with a team of developers at Redland Shire Council, developed system to automate approval chains for such things as recruitment, contractor employment, resignations, etc. This was an ASP.NET application written using C# and the Microsoft .NET Framework.
Timesheet Web Application
- Wrote system for SEC Corpnet http://www.seccorpnet.com.au/ to allow staff and contractors to fill in their timesheets over the web.
- Written using Visual Basic.NET Webforms.
Build Cycle Automation System
- Wrote a system from scratch to automate the application build process for a medium sized development team at Education Queensland.
- Allows system administrators to automate all steps in the build cycle including:
- Visual SourceSafe automation (checkin, checkout, label, etc)
- Compiling VB6 projects and setting references
- File and folder manipulation
- Regular expression Find and Replace facility
- COM+ automation
- Database script execution
Event Management System
- Application used internally by Education Queensland to track staff requests to attend conferences, including confirmation of attendance, accommodation and travel.
- Windows DNA (Distributed Internet Architecture) application written using Visual Interdev 6.0, Visual Basic 6.0, COM+ and SQL Server 2000.
- Provided consulting services on Active Server Page coding, COM component design and SQL Server stored procedure development.
Web Forms Generator
- Used to allow people without web development skills to easily create online data entry forms and questionnaires.
- The data collected by the forms can then be submitted to a forms database, sent as email or written out to XML files.
- Written using Active Server Pages (MS Visual Interdev and Internet Information Server). The database platform is MS SQL Server 2000.
Web based Organisational Chart viewer
- Recently developed with Comalco staff members for use internally on Comalco’s intranet.
- Sends queries to SAP and MIMS backend systems to retrieve organisational structure data that is then formatted into an interactive Organisational Chart. End Users can drill down into the organisation and display employee information at each level.
- Written using IIS, ASP, and SQL Server 2000
Electronic Payroll System
- Developed for Papua New Guinea Banking Corporation (since acquired by Bank of South Pacific http://www.bsp.com.pg/)
- Allow clients of the bank to produce payroll files that are then submitted to the banks core banking system to initiate transfer of funds.
- Written using MS Visual Basic 6.0
- Custom setup program scripted using Wise InstallBuilder.
Data Management System
- Developed under contract with Microsoft Consulting Services (Australia) for Moreton Institute of TAFE, this system uses SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services as a multidimensional data warehouse.
- Cognos Power Play Enterprise Server 6.6 was used to develop web reports that administration staff access in order to produce timely reports and forecasts.
Job System
- Developed for Jondal Industries Pty. Ltd (now Dalvec), a commercial catering equipment service company, this system allows operators to enter and maintain details of repair jobs, including job assignment, work details, job history, invoicing, and reporting.
- This system is designed using an Access 2000 front-end application and a SQL Server 7.0 backend. Clients access the application through Microsoft Terminal Server sessions.
Branch Quota System (BQS)
- Developed for Papua New Guinea Banking Corporation
- VB6 Application used to track daily and monthly job activities performed by branch staff at an international bank
- Used to calculate optimum-staffing levels based on activity data.
PKTool
- Visual Basic 6.0 application with SQL Server stored procedures used to automate transformation of data imported to SQL Server from an AS400 through JD Edwards One World.
- Proof of concept done for Fisher and Paykel
Word Office Template System
- Word templates and VBA coding were used to produce a system that is used keep track of and facilitate the retrieval of large numbers of standard documents the client uses in its correspondence with customers
- Individual user information is stored and automatically inserted into each document
- There is an Administration templates that allows a administrator to customise the menu system (add/remove documents) as well as to specify attachments and "prompts" or questions to be asked and actioned upon
- Back End Database is in Access 97 format storing the menu system, template locations, attachments and prompt information
- This system is in use at an overseas bank and at a major state government department.
Autoform
- MS Word application written in VBA for Queensland Industry Development Corporation (QIDC).
- Used to produce a menu system of corporate documents.
- Automatic insertion of standardised information into documents.
- Automatic saving and generation of document names base on document type, user ID and date.
- Also wrote a version for MS Excel.
DocMan - Document Management System
- System written in VB used to interface with the Autoform systems mention above
- Stored information about all documents generated via the Autoform system
- Users could access this application in order to find and retrieve previously saved documents
Interview Assistance Guide (IAG)
- Visual Basic application used to store standard questions asked in interviews for all positions at the bank (QIDC)
- A user would select the position and a documents would be produced in Word format that would facilitate the interview process
Credit Proposal System
- Visual Basic application used by business loans officers at QIDC to collect information about the potential client.
- After all data was entered the system calculated a rating on which loan approval was based
Efin
- Word Template system with VBA macros used to build legal documents for leasing agreements
Numerous other smaller projects including
Koala Habitat Atlas Database, Employee Stock Option Database, Business Statistics Reporting Tool, Mail (Correspondence) Tracker, Training Resources Database, Membership Database, Reporting Tools for a retail jewellery store chain.
