I've always been frustrated with the 3rd party BDC Metaman.  I am just about to try the new Microsoft Business Data Catalog Definition Editor that comes with the latest SDK refresh.

hey,
Nick here from BDC Meta Man. What was it that frustrated you about BDC Meta Man? I'd be interested to know so we can look into improving it for you

Thanks

Hi Nick,

All in all it does an OK job. There are just a few things in the UI that are frustrating. I'd like to be able to edit the SQL for one. (ie. add a where clause without having to go and create a view or go in and edit the XML directly.

Also, I don't find the menus intuitive. You have to know when and where to right click.

Mind you I never read the manual or anything. I just flew by the seat of my pants :-)

Glad you are interested in the feedback. I hear you are working on some writeback functionality? Maybe that will sway me.

Hi Mark,
we'll we've had a SQL Query wizzard type thing on the cards for ages. I might bump it up the list now.

We've also got the write back working now for SQL Server and Oracle (literally in the version we just released tonight). You can see a screencast of it here:

Keep the feedback coming. You can get hold of me at nick@lightningtools.com. That goes for everyone of course! :-)
