Now that you can write web parts in ASP.NET 2.0 without involving SharePoint, what is happening with WSS Web Parts. Mike Fitzmaurice explains. The big gotcha here is that ASP.NET 2.0 will only be supported in WSS 2003 SP2 and NOT in SPS! The annoncement he is talking about is U2U's “Son of SmartPart“ which will make it easier to host ASP.NET web parts in WSS SP2.
